TURKEY NEEDS HELP!
The magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 earthquakes that struck southern Türkiye on February 6, 2023, caused widespread destruction in the country.
The quake concentrated on the town of Pazarcik, in Turkey’s southeastern Kahramanmaras province, and was followed by a 7.5 quake and several powerful aftershocks.More than 25,000 people have died from the disaster in Turkey.
Rescue efforts continue to be the top priority, with some 25,000 deployed in Turkey and thousands more sent in from overseas — but a bitter winter storm now threatens the lives of the survivors and of those still trapped under rubble. While the process over the disaster arouses great sadness in people, you can give hope to thousands of people with your help.

55 years ago, the late Vehbi Koç gathered together 205 business people, faculty members and intellectuals to promote education. In 1967, following a massive effort unimaginable considering the conditions of Turkey at that time, they established the Turkish Education Foundation to support the education of young people. They knew that a skilled new generation was necessary to develop this country, and that this could only be achieved through education. This courageous movement brought the Turkish Education Foundation to life through a spirit of solidarity.

Turkey ranks third in the world in terms of earthquake-related casualties and eighth with regard to the total number of people affected. Every year, the country experiences at least one 5 magnitude earthquake – which renders the proper management and coordination of disasters absolutely crucial.
Turkey’s disaster policy dates back to the aftermath of the 1939 Erzincan earthquake, which claimed nearly 33.000 lives and left at least 100.000 injured. Two decades later, the Turkish Parliament adopted the Law on Precautions to be Taken due to Disaster Affecting Public Life and Assistance to be Provided (No.7269) in order to fill the long-existing legal void. The legislative effort on disaster continued with the 1988 by-law on the Principles of the Organization and Planning of Emergency Assistance Regarding Disasters.
